eXceLlenT suMmeR 2006!!!

Feeling the heat of the sun, I know, summer is coming my way. I’m very eager to escape all the pressure from school, the non-stop day-to-day responsibilities, and the usual life in the city. Actually, I’m so happy to say that summer went out so great for me!!! It is because, I got to have another chance to be in the beautiful beaches of Bantayan Island, had the ultimate experience during the Kool Adventure Camp, and feeling the soothing breeze of Bohol Island!

Without even accomplishing my clearance in school, I got my bags, wore my shades, left the city and decided to have a break. I want to be away from the noise of the city, and enjoy the sugar-like white sand beaches of Bantayan Island. With my entire family with me, we left our house before the sun rose, and reached Jagnaya before lunch. Reaching the pier of Sta.Fe, and seeing the crystal clear and blue water, it gave me more thrill. It’s as if, I just wanted to leave my things behind and jump into the sea! Of course, I can’t do so.

So, I just stopped myself. We proceeded directly to my aunt’s pension house where we would stay for the entire week. When we reached there, we went to our rooms, fixed our things, and took some sleep. But later on, when I woke up, my nose was bleeding! Maybe it is because of the extreme hotness of the island and my body was not used to that very high temperature. My mom then gave me a medicine, and after some time of more rest, I was then okay.

During our entire week-long stay there, we went to the three major towns of Bantayan Island; Sta.Fe, Bantayan and Madredejos(new name) or was formerly known as Lawis. We also visited the famous and known tourist spot, the old Bantayan church. We also went to the “tiyangge” to look around for stuffs that we could possibly buy. We even followed the life-size images for the procession in Madredejos and Bantayan. Wow! It was so great! And finally, we went to the very fine beaches and stayed there until late at night where we also enjoyed concerts and night-time activities. I even got a henna tattoo there which was placed on my upper right back so that my father won’t see it!(hahaha!)

Wherever we go, whatever we do, me and my cousins would pose everywhere if one would shout…picture! Even if we were still eating the very fresh seafood with our very dirty hands, we would really stop and take a pose! I really had so much fun in Bantayan! That’s why, when the day came that we had to leave, I just kept on reminiscing the very memorable experience we just had.

But then, suddenly, a thought just suddenly came into my mind, the Kool Adventure Camp is just days away, and I’m not yet ready! I can’t hide the excitement that I felt towards the KAC, because it would be my very first time to be away from home, with no bodyguards(cousins and brothers) with me, and it would be for 2 nights and 3 days! The freedom that I ought to have for such a very long time finally came into my hands. So, when the day of our departure came, I was so eager to get out of our house and bade goodbye to my family. I got my bags, my favorite Tazmanian Devil pillow, and my shades and off I go!

The thrill that I felt didn’t stop until I reached our campsite in David Livingstone Academy in Liloan, Cebu. It was such a nice place! It is located somewhere in the mountains and overlooking the very beautiful view of the sea.

The 3-day stay there was extremely a non-stop fun! I had the chance to have some fun, learn a lot of things, be amazed by my own capabilities, got the chance to conquer my fear, and of course, I had the once in a very blue moon opportunity to prove myself. ] Wearing harness and walking through a wire, standing on a shaking pole, climbing on a wall, and be paired up and teased with the son of the Executive Director of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., were just few of our unstoppable adventures!

Within the camp, I came to realize my importance as a person, towards my new-found friends, and especially to my old friends who were my comfort zones! From the very time that tears fell from my eyes, until the very moment that they wiped it out, I said to myself, “I had to move on!” Right now, until this very moment, I can’t stop and never gets tired of sharing me sooper doper Kool Adventure Camp experience!

And finally, after those adventure, fun and non-stop trip, I finally found myself in Bohol! Having fun and cherishing the peaceful and quiet environment with nothing else to do but to sleep and rest and sleep and of course, have fun with the simple native life. I went to Bohol because I wanted to chill, I mean, I wanted to take some time-off with everything that I am so tired about. I wanted to relax and take a break from the very nerve-wrecking and brain damaging crash course in Calculus that we had weeks ago.

Being in a very relaxing place like this, I had the time for myself to think, reflect, and relax my brain from too much thinking about formulas, derivatives, trigonometric functions, parabola, hyperbola and all of those alien things!

I eagerly took this opportunity to hear not the cars, but the swaying trees; to feel the very cold and fresh air from the mountains, and to live just a very simple life. I know, once I cross the sea going back to the city, I would then return to my old routine, but this time, I’m refreshed! See? What a very fun summer I had? I have been able to dive into the crystal clear water in Bantayan with an additional Henna on my back, slept in the woods or should I say mountains during the Kool Adventure Camp where I met and gained new friends, and of course, our cave expedition in Bohol where my endurance in walking was really tested. No words could explain the overwhelming feeling that I felt during this very moment.

“I can’t wait for the next summer!!!”
